Federation of International Football Association,FIFA have named Peter Edibe among the 21 African referees on the list of prospective referees and assistant referees for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Edibe,who will be among the referees at the FIFA World Club Cup in Morocco next month can however only operate as assistant referee two at the mundial if he eventually makes the cut,according to the list released by FIFA.
Only seven out of the 21 Africans listed will be considered as centre referee with Cameroun's Alioum Neant,who officiated the first leg of Nigeria's play-oof tie against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa last month topping the list.
Others include Daniel Benneth (South Africa),Diatta Badara (Mali),Doue Noumandiez Desire (Cote D'Ivoire),Haimoudi Djamel (Algeria),Jedidi Slim (Tunisia) and Gambia's Gassama Bakary Papa who was at the centre in Calabar where the Eagles defeated Ethiopia 2-0 last weekend to seal their passage to Brazil 2014
