Newcomer Tope Tedela was the revelation of the night at the 2014 AMVCAs.
He won the top award, Best Actor in a Drama, beating a strong pool of experienced and more accomplished stars.
Speaking to newsmen afterwards on whether he expected to win, Tope said, ‘Not exactly, I just kept an open mind and I believe people must have voted for me to enable me win this. I am so glad, honoured and humbled.’
Tope would also confirm that the movie was a low budget one, saying, ‘It was absolutely low budget. The story was good but there were a lot of filming challenges but we stuck at it and made it to the end.’
He also said that apart from the screen, he would be doing a lot of stage work so as to have good acting balance.
‘I’m involved in some good projects, I just finished working on a stage production,’ he added.
