Jonathan In Closed Door Meeting With South-West Governors
President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday met behind closed-doors with All Progressives Congress from the
South-West region. The governors, who attended the parley which was
described as private, are Babatunde Fashola (Lagos), Kayode Fayemi
(Ekiti), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), and Rauf Aregbesola (Osun).
Sources told us that it
was a political meeting and that President Jonathan had tried to see if
he could sway the hearts of the South-West governors to his side, using a
different topic, but once he noticed that the governors are totally
committed to APC's movement for change, he quietly changed the topic...
The meeting was also attended by ministers from the South-West and the
new Chief of Staff to the President, Brig.-Gen. Jones Arogbofa (retd).
Although Governor Fayemi said issues of national importance were
discussed, he refused to give details as he insisted that the meeting is
private. But when asked whether it was true that the forthcoming
elections were discussed, Fayemi paused for a while and smiled.
It is believed that President Jonathan is determined to return to Aso
Rock in 2015 and his only headache are the South-West governors who are
not ready to compromise as they are determine to make a change.
