Ado Bayero, Emir of Kano passes away at 87

The Emir of Kano, Ado Abdullahi Bayero has passed away this morning.

Bayero, a former Ambassador to Senegal has been the Emir since 1963. He ascended the throne when Muhammadu Sanusi, his half brother was dethroned and Inuwa who succeeded him reigned for only three months.

 

He is one of the longest serving emirs in the Kano emirate.

He was 87 years old.
