5.6 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Congo

Earthquake has on Friday morning hit Democratic Republic of Congo. The 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck in the eastern part of Congo at a relatively shallow depth of 6.2 miles (10 km), the U.S. Geological Survey reported on Thursday.

The quake struck 24 miles (39 km) north of Bukavu, Congo, not far from the border with Rwanda, at 3:25 a.m. local time on Friday (0125 GMT), USGS said. The USGS initially reported the quake as magnitude 5.8.
