Mandela’s Grandson Granted Bail after Rape Charge

Nelson Mandela's grandson, who allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl has been granted bail in a South African court. Bail for the 24-year-old was set at 7000 rand ($536; £340) in a Johannesburg magistrates court.

"He does not want to be tried as a Mandela but he wants to be tried as a normal person," his lawyers said in his bail affidavit, referring to media attention and public interest in the case. The grandson in question cannot be named until he has entered a plea in response to the charge.
