Nigerians remember brave Ebola, Stella Adadevoh doctor 1 year after

Dr Stella Adadevoh, Nigeria’s ‘Ebola Doctor’ died on August 19, 2014, after contracting the disease in an attempt to keep index patient, Patrick Sawyer confined to the First Consultants Hospital in Lagos where she worked.
Sawyer, an American-Liberian, arrived Nigeria on July 25 after coming in contact with his sister, who had died on Ebola.

According to reports, he insisted on leaving the hospital but was restrained by Dr Adadevoh and her colleague despite threat of legal action by the Liberian Ambassador.
Her actions saved many Nigerians from what would have been a catastrophic epidemic.
The disease infected 21 persons and claimed 9 lives before Nigeria was declared Ebola-free on October 20.
