Our People will Choose my Successor – Amosun

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Friday, said although he is not sure of who will succeed him in office come 2019, he is clear about those who won't be governor in Ogun State. The governor stated this at an expanded Parliamentary caucus meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State, on Friday. "We are human, we are not God but this is Ogun State and we know how we do our things here," the governor said. He added that, "by the time we say this is the person who will be Governor, our people will choose him because we will do our work."

Reacting to certain false information making the rounds on social media recently, Governor Amosun said, "People are so afraid of whatever we do. They are just running round and it shows clearly that we are on ground and there is no problem. “They said they have audio and I say they are cowards. If they have audio, they don’t have to wait for audio, this is me, I will not only give you the audio, do the video, I am here personally and the way we are brought up, whatever we want to say, we will say it openly," Governor Amosun said.
Describing those spreading the falsehood on social media as jobless busybodies, Governor Amosun said, “We have responsibilities to govern, please don’t be distracted. For us in Ogun State, I may not be able tell you quickly and say this is who our Governor will be, but we know those who will not be Governor of this state." While debunking claims that he verbally attacked Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and promised to dislodge him in Lagos, Governor Amosun said on the contrary he would never be ungrateful to the former Lagos Governor. "By the way, I say it all the time, that Asiwaju that you see; it is not money, he didn’t give me any money, no and I say it often “won ki fi oju olore gbole o,” (Don’t be ungrateful to your helper) when I needed him, he stood by me. "I talk to him, despite all of those things people will want to say. I think they are just afraid and imagining what we are doing and what we are not doing," Amosun said.
