Nana Akufo-Addo sworn in as Ghana's President

Nana Akufo-Addo, the 72 year-old human rights lawyer, has been sworn in on Saturday as Ghana’s new president. He succeeds John Dramani Mahama who he beat in the 7 December election.

President Muhammadu Buhari and at least 10 African heads of state and more than 6,000 people were expected at the ceremony in Accra, Ghana.
Mr. Mahama was very happy and fulfilled while handing over the mantle of leadership to Akufo-Addo. According to eyewitnesses, they shook each other, cracked jokes and laughed.
