FG to Merge Arik, Aero as National Carrier

There are strong rumours that Nigeria could be having a national carrier in the shortest possible time as the Federal Government completely takes over two airline companies. A likely merger and conversion of assets of Arik Air and Aero Contractors is one of the options being considered by the Federal Government (FG) in the buildup to a new national carrier for the country.

Arik Air Requires N10bn to Resume Full Operations - AMCON

Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria has revealed in-depth details about the financial burden of indigenous airline, Arik. The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) on Sunday said it had discovered deep rooted rot at embattled airline, Arik Air. AMCON said it would require over N10 billion to fix the rot before the largest local carrier could resume full and uninterrupted flight operations to its regular routes across the country and beyond.

Arik Leaves Passengers Stranded In Kaduna Airport For 4 Days

Several passengers, including children, were stranded at Kaduna International Airport since on Tuesday, following the failure of Arik Airlines to airlift them as scheduled. Some of the disappointed passengers made the complaint to the Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, at the airport during the on-the-spot assessment of the facilities on ground at the airport. They lamented that they had been parading the airport since on Tuesday just to board Arik air from Kaduna to Lagos to no avail without any explanation or apology from the airline officials.

There is currently an ongoing protest at the domestic terminal of the Murtala Muhammed airport in Lagos as workers shutdown operations. 

Few days after lack maintenance controversy, the flight operations of Arik Airlines has been grounded by Aviation unions under the auspices of the National Union of Air Transport Employees, NUATE, Air Transport Senior Staff Services Association of Nigeria, ATSSSAN, National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers, NAAPE, over protracted labour issues.

Resigned Arik Air Pilot allegedly advises Passengers to stay off Airline over lack of Maintenance

 

An Arik Airline pilot, who recently resigned from the company has allegedly warned the general public to stay off the airline for sometime, as they have not maintained their flights for a very long time. He was claimed to have said that the company do not have spare parts to change bad ones.

Arik Air Grounded over N1.2b Debt Owned FAAN

The Association of Air Transport Association of Nigeria (ATTSAN) and the National Union of Air Transport Employers (NUATE), have grounded the Arik Airlines scheduled flight operations from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, to other parts of the country. This is as a result of the N1.2 billion debt owed the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) by the airline.

Dead Man found on Arik Air plane at MMIA Lagos Nigeria

A suspected stowaway reportedly died in the undercarriage compartment of an Arik Air aircraft on Saturday. According to a statement by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the yet-to-be-identified body was discovered in an Arik airbus A345, with registration number, CS-TFX at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The statement said that FAAN was reviewing footages of the CCTV system and airside security operations with a view to identifying the gaps and personnel failure, if any, in order to take remedial actions.

Arik Airline Suspends Flight To Liberia, Sierra-Leone Over Ebola Outbreak

Ebola here, Ebola there...news reaching OCB claims that Arik Air has suspended flight operations to Liberia and Sierra-Leone following the outbreak of Ebola virus in the countries. The airline’s Head of Corporate Communications, Ola Adebanji, disclosed this in a statement issued yesterday in Lagos.  According to the statement, the suspension would be in force until further notice.
