“I don’t regret not re-signing Fabregas” – Wenger

Arsene Wenger has insisted he does not regret refusing to sign Cesc Fabregas in the summer. The Spanish midfielder moved to Chelsea from Barcelona for £27million in June and has stacked up an impressive number of assists for Jose Mourinho’s side. Fabregas, who played for the Gunners for eight years before moving back to Barcelona in 2011, revealed Wenger chose not to re-sign him because he had a plethora of attacking players. The Frenchman has spoken about his reluctance to do the transfer and expressed optimism that his team will catch up with Chelsea. “I don’t regret not taking Cesc because we already had a lot of creative players in our midfield,” Wenger told beIN Sports. “Chelsea will also have a difficult period [in the season]. Our schedule was extremely difficult and I have the belief that we can close the gap to them.”

Xavi will leave Barcelona - Cesc Fabregas

Ex-Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has added weight to the reports linking Xavi with a big-money switch to Al Arabi.
Dan Petrescu, coach of the Qatar Stars League outfit, told Digi Sport on Tuesday that the 34-year-old playmaker had signed a pre-contract agreement with the club.
The Spain midfielder " currently playing at the FIFA World Cup " has regularly been linked with a move away from Camp Nou in recent times.
Xavi's declining form was a symptom of Barca's poor season, which saw them end the campaign without a major trophy for the first time since 2007-08.
And Fabregas, who this month moved to Chelsea from Barcelona, told Marca: (Xavi) and (Carles) Puyol have decided to step aside.
"(They want) to be closer to their families, away from so much demand."
Puyol ended his 17-year playing career with Barcelona when he retired last season.
