Diezani in trouble again as EFCC uncover $1.3b withdrawal from NNPC accounts

EFCC detectives have just uncovered a withdrawal of $1.3billion from the accounts of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), ostensibly to fight kidnapping and other security threats in the Niger Delta.

A Federal High Court, Lagos, on Tuesday, ordered that two penthouse structures, linked to the former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, be temporary forfeited to the Federal government of Nigeria. Justice Mojisola Olatoregun, ordered that two properties: Penthouse 21 building 5, Block C, 11 floor (Bella Vista Estate) Banana Island, Ikoyi, and Penthouse 22, Block B (Admiralty Estate) also in Ikoyi, Lagos, be forfeited to the Nigerian government, pending the conclusion of the investigation.

Court dismisses Diezani’s application to return to Nigeria

A Federal High Court Sitting in Lagos has dismissed an application by a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke urging it to compel the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami, to bring her back to Nigeria to defend a criminal charge bordering on alleged laundering of N450 million. Justice Rilwan Aikawa in a ruling on the issue agreed with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that the application is misconceived and amounts to “a misuse of the court process”.

Court Orders Final Forfeiture Of Diezani’s N7.6bn Loot

The final forfeiture of a sum of N7,646,700,000 loot by a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, to the FG. She was ordered by the Federal High Court in Lagos. On August 9, 2017, judge Justice Chuka Obiozor granted an order temporarily forfeiting the money to the FG. Justice Obiozor’s order followed an ex parte application argued before him by EFCC. The case was adjourned till today all in a bid for the bank and any other interested party to appear before him to show cause why the funds should not be permanently forfeited to the FG.

The premier anti-corruption body in Nigeria has made public its investigations against a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke. 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said it had so far, through painstaking investigations by its operatives, traced N47.2bn and $487.5m in cash and properties to a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

 

These, the anti-graft agency said, were apart from “boxes of gold, silver and diamond jewellery, worth several million British pounds sterling,” discovered during a search of  Diezani’s palatial residences in Abuja.

EFCC secures Total Forfeiture Order for Million Diezani used to bribe INEC staff

Justice Mohammed B. Idris of the Federal High Court, sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has ordered the final forfeiture of the proceeds of bribe given by former Petroleum Minister, Deziani Alison Maduekwe to some staff of INEC in the build up to the 2015 General elections. The properties belonging to Christian Nwosu, the convict, are a landed property measuring 100ft by 80, lying and another situated at Okotomi layout, Obodogwugwu Quarters, Okpanam, Oshimili North LG and 100ft by 50, lying in the same local government area of Delta State.

UK Okays Diezani's Trial for Money Laundering

A former Petroleum Minister, Dizeani Alison-Maduekwe who is battling with cancer alongside legal tussles is to be charged to court in Europe. All is set for the trial of a former Minister of Petroleum Resources Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, and four others in London for alleged corrupt practices. The trial has been fixed for June and more evidence were hauled to the United Kingdom at the weekend, The Nation reports. Part of the evidence are the proceedings of a Federal High Court in respect of the order of final forfeiture of $153 million allegedly traced to the ex-minister.

Former oil minister Diezani Alison-Madueke in another edition of The Boss Newspaper revealed that what matters most to her now is how to take care of her poor health. According to her,she is in pains, has received several doses of chemotherapy and about receiving radiotherapy for her cancer treatment. She believes doctors can not do beyond that.

Diezani’s Ally, Kola Aluko, Faces Extradition To UK

There were strong indications on Wednesday that Switzerland might extradite a Nigerian oil baron, Kola Aluko, to the United Kingdom. The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland, in an electronic mail to one of our correspondents, confirmed that the UK had sought for mutual legal assistance from its country. In an e-mail sent to it, the office of the AGF of Switzerland was asked if it had received extradition request from the UK on the businessman.

Some times ago, more than five decades, tears of joy roll down from the cheeks of Nigerians as a result of their freedom from the colonial masters. There were shouts of joy and victory like in the days of Israelites, when they were liberated from slavery. Songs were composed, books were written and history was made 1st day of October 1960. After two months of our liberation from the ‘Egyptian’ slavery, Nigeria gave birth to a noble baby which I called the Fruit of Independence. On that beautiful day of December 6, 1960, heaven and mother earth met, and a seed germinated in Port Harcourt to the family of His Royal Majesty, late Frederick Abiye and Chief Mrs Beatrice Agama from Bayelsa State Nigeria. The great architect knitted her in her mother’s womb, and she later turned out to be an architect that will help in renewing the face of Nigeria. That memorable day, there was glamorous celebration because a celebrity was born.
