President Muhammadu Buhari today accused politicians of blackmailing him over the killings of Nigerians by herdsmen all over the country. Recall that over 54 innocent villagers were last week massacred by bloodthirsty herdsmen in Plateau state. Nigerians have been condemning the ruling party and the president for his non-chalant approach in handling the menace. However, while speaking at a mega rally of the All Progressives’ Congress, APC, in Ekiti State on Tuesday, the president said mischievous politicians have been wrongfully accusing him of failing to take action on the crisis because of his Fulani ethnicity, the same as that of the herdsmen held largely responsible for the killings. He said contrary to the allegations, his administration is committed to protecting the lives and properties of Nigerians.

Five killed as herdsmen attack Nasarawa

The Police Command in Nasarawa State has confirmed five persons dead in a fresh attack on Kadarko village and environs in Obi Local Government of the state. Mr Kennedy Idirisu, the command’s spokesman, told reporters on Wednesday in Lafia that the attackers suspected to be armed herdsmen invaded the village last night and shot everyone on sight. “The command has deployed adequate personnel to quell the attacks. Relative normalcy had returned to the area. We have also arrested three suspects in connection with the Kadarko attacks,” he said.

The General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, revealed his emotional side yesterday during a condolence visit to Benue State on the recent killing of innocent people by herdsmen. Adeboye told Governor Samuel Ortom how he wept in January during the mass burial of 78 victims of the mayhem. His words, “No man of God will see a mass burial anywhere and not feel the pains of the people affected." He added: ”Benue State is very, very close to my heart; I had felt every pain you people felt and I wept when I saw you weeping.”

Couple dies as suspected Fulani herdsmen attack Delta Community

A victim allegedly attacked by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Abraka, Ethiope East L.G.A has died of wounds sustained in the attack. The victim, Mrs. Patience Akpomiemie, who was attacked in her farm died weekend at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, (DELSUTH), Oghara. It was learnt that the victim’s husband Mr. Happy Akpomiemie died on the spot after he was shot in the back. The Nation gathered that the couple and their son were shot at while working in their farm when they were attacked. The President General, Abraka Development Union, Dr. Joseph Tedwins in an interview lamented the violence wreaked on the community by suspected Fulani herdsmen, stressing that the community have lodged a complaint at the Police station.

Akure Airport Invision By Herdsmen: OPC to secure passengers

Members of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) in Ondo State have expressed their readiness to protect passengers using the Akure Airport. This followed last weekend’s invasion of the airport by cows suspected to belong to Fulani herdsmen. State Coordinator Pius Ogunsanya, who addressed reporters in Akure yesterday, noted that if cows continued to graze on the tarmac, many passengers would abandon the airport for alternative routes to their destinations. This, he noted, would diminish the economy of the state.

Herdsmen In Ekiti To Register With N5000

Following the latest attack launched by suspected herdsmen in Ekiti State, Governor Ayo Fayose has given all herdsmen in the state a three-month ultimatum to register in their respective locations to identify them. They are to register with a sum of N5,000 each in a bid to know who should be held responsible in the event of any further attacks in the state. Fayose also vowed to hold the Sarkin Fulani (Head of Fulanis) in Ekiti State, Muhammad Abashe, personally responsible for any further attacks in his domain.

Suspected Herdsmen Kill 5 In Adamawa, Delta States

No fewer than four persons are feared dead following a midnight attack by suspected herdsmen on Kikon, a village in the Numan Local Government of Adamawa State. The herdsmen were said to have stormed the community around 1am on Sunday, burning down the entire village and killing two men and two women. Othman Abubakar, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Adamawa State Police Command, confirmed the attack, adding that four people were killed in the incident. Also in Delta State, at least one person has been killed in a fresh attack by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen at Onicha-Olona community, Delta State.

Uniform men lured us to be killed by herdsmen – Plateau attack survivor

No fewer than 29 persons, mainly women and children, were, killed in an attack by suspected herdsmen in Nkiedonwhro village of Irigwe chiefdom in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. Three others sustained various degrees of injuries. Despite the curfew declared last Friday, night attacks have persisted in the villages with many residents already fleeing the troubled area. However, President of Irigwe Development Association, Sunday Abdu, who confirmed the incident, claimed that the victims were taken to a classroom in a public primary school in the village by members of Operation Safe Haven, saddled with the responsibility of keeping peace in the area, only to be abandoned. Fulani Herdsmen, under the aegis of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, on Monday threatened to institute legal action against the Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, for making disparaging and uncomplimentary statements on President Mohammed Buhari’s health. Herdsman Heads to Jail in Ekiti after Destroying Properties

An Ekiti State High Court has sentenced a herdsman, Ali Haruna, to two years imprisonment for destroying crops worth N1.5 million in the farm. The state Chief Judge, Justice Ayodeji Daramola, held that the prosecution had proved the case against the accused beyond reasonable doubt setting aside the appeal filed against the judgment of the Chief Magistrate’s Court. Haruna had earlier been sentenced to two years jail by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court presided over by Mr Idowu Ayenimo on a two-count charge of malicious damage preferred against him.

Herdsmen Kill Four Policemen, Five Others In Adamawa, Kaduna

 

Fulani herdsmen, on Saturday, attacked Kwahine, Gidan dadi and Karalahi villages in the Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State, killing four policemen and three villagers. Also, a Senator from the Southern Kaduna Senatorial District, Danjuma Laah, on Sunday, said despite the presence of troops, suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked Tsonje village, near Kagoro in the Kaura LGA of the Kaduna State on Saturday and killed two persons. Tsonje is in the crisis-ridden Southern Kaduna. The Adamawa State Police Command on Sunday confirmed the killings in the state but claimed that only three riot policemen were killed while two were missing.
