A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Monday upturned the election of Ibinabo Fiberesima as President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
Justice James Tsoho ruled that the election was conducted against court order and ordered all parties involved to maintain status quo, qed.ng correspondent at the court reports.

"Ibinabo is a small girl, she doesn’t know anything "-Mr Ibu
OCB BBpin: 7E314696
Ibinabo and nollywood actors sef! Remember sometimes last week, president of the actors guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima dissed John Okafor
(Mr Ibu) when she said "Replying Mr. Ibu would be trading intelligence with ignorance " lol, all because the comedian asked her to step down and not run for 2nd term . So, Mr Ibu has fired back in a new interview with Punch. read below:
“I was the chief coach for AGN for four years. If I’m not a member, why would I be appointed? She is just looking for something to hold. The issue is that she is a small girl, she doesn’t know anything and I was trying to correct her but she was seeing it as if I was abusing her.Still speaking...
“I am not abusing her; she is a good person, I must tell you. But she does not know what administration is all about, she should leave it. I’m only respecting her because of the people who are connected to how she became the president of the Guild, otherwise I would have told her straight that she can’t do it.
“How can she be the president of AGN and all the states have two chairmen each and she cannot resolve the conflict and the Board of Trustees is not in order. They are not one and she cannot resolve it?
“She selects people and gives them post. It is not proper and she is killing herself the more. If she cannot rule, let her come down. Everything about this Guild is what you know.”
“I have never been to Aso Rock before, so I don’t even know how the buildings are. If she wants to go for second term, no problem but I told her instead of going there to make more enemies for herself, let her stop. If she wants to go, it’s not my business. Was I the one that took her to court? She has about three cases lying in the court as I speak to you. I’m not the one that took her to court. I don’t pretend.”

"Forget The Picture, I Am Still At War With AGN President, Ibinabo"- Clarion Chukwurah
I got this from Saturday Punch so read...
A picture of the warring actresses,
Clarion Chukwura and Ibinabo Fiberesima together, went viral earlier in
the week that made so many people to speculate whether the two have
reconciled.
However, Clarion told Saturday Punch on
the phone earlier in the week that she was surprised that the picture
found its way to the Internet.
Clarion, who won the Best Actress award
at the recently held Africa Movie Academy Award, said the picture was
taken when Ibinabo congratulated her on the award.
“When I got the award, I came and met my
team, the Royal Arts Academy, and we all hugged and took pictures. As I
was going back to my seat, Ibinabo got up and hugged me and beckoned
the photographers to take our picture. As I stepped away, Rita Dominic
also got up and hugged me and also asked the press photographers to take
our pictures.
“When we got to the airport, Teco Benson
came to me and said he wanted to minister to me and he also beckoned to
her and she came close. I told Teco that I didn’t have anything against
Ibinabo. This is an AGN issue. We should be real about the issue. The
following day, somebody called me and told me about the picture. I was
surprised,” she said.
Meanwhile, Clarion expressed her
displeasure over a recent publication in which she said she was
misinterpreted. She said the publication was meant to fuel a phantom
duel between Ibinabo and her and to shift attention away from the
salient issues vital to the growth of the guild.
“But I will not allow such to pass,
neither will I stop until the focus of AGN returns to that of a
commerce-driven professional body instead of one always going cap in
hand begging for money every now and then, thus selling the neutrality
of the artistes,” she said.
However, Ibinabo in a phone conversation
with our correspondent insisted she doesn’t have any problem with
Clarion and was not ready to comment on any issue.
“I don’t have any case with Clarion; I
have no problems with the lady. I don’t know what is going on. It was in
the papers that I read about her so-called letter. I don’t know how to
explain it. Anyway, I have so much work on my plate. I will not allow
anybody to distract me. I don’t want to talk about this again. The
election is even in November. I am a very busy person at the moment,”
she said.
Through her capacity as AGN president,
Ibinabo was able to raise N10m grant from the Presidency for Chike
Bryan, the president of the Screen Writers Association of Nigeria who
was diagnosed with kidney failure.

"Ibinabo is an ex-convict and not fit to lead the AGN"-Clarion Chukwurah Responds To Open Letter
Following the bruhaha between AGN president Ibinabo and veteran actress Clarion Chukwurah (if you missed it, read it HERE ), the later has fired back in an interview with Punch. Clarion calls Ibinabo an ex convict and a lair about her age, please read below:
“I am not on the same level with Ibinabo Fibresima professionally,
educationally or in any other form. I find that she is deliberately misleading the public and wanting to push the issues
at stake under the table with her so-called open letter. I will not
allow her to do that.Item ‘U’ of the electoral guideline of AGN
disqualified her. No convicted person can stand for election in any
post. She was convicted for manslaughter and she was given a jail
sentence which she served. There is a court injunction stopping Ibinabo
from parading herself as the AGN president. This is the copy of the judgment.
I have it. Manslaughter has no option of fine. Her sentence was reduced
from seven years to five years and we all know she went to jail. The judgment reads in part, ‘there is proof that she drove recklessly and caused the death of Dr. Sura Giwa contrary to the road traffic laws of Lagos State.’ She was drunk. How could this person be the face of AGN?”
Buy Cheap Android Phones on Konga.com | Lowest Price in Nigeria
Buy Cheap Android Phones on Konga.com at Lowest price. Free Delivery | Pay on Delivery. The court injunction of 2011 and 2013 was forwarded to the presidency. The criminal conviction of manslaughter was sent to the presidency. The president is supposed to be a symbol of the supremacy of the rule of law. He disregarded the law in recognising Ibinabo as president of AGN. The president is now saying there is no law in this country. So the AGN has become an ethnic grouping. This is a professional body of actors. It is not a Niger Delta solidarity platform.
Some actors have even explained to me why they followed her. They said they were taken there on a fraudulent arrangement for her to use and get what she wanted. Would she really have approached me for a thing like that?”I have the data of every government house she has been to. No single chapter has seen a dime for running the guild. She went to Ondo State and she was given N500, 000. What chapter did she inaugurate in Ondo State? The guild wasn’t set up to go begging from one state government to another.”
In 1989 when she was running Pyramid Club in Lagos, she was 22. How can she say 25 years later that she is just turning 40? I have known her a long time. I know what I am saying when I say she is not a professional actor.”

I want to marry, I need company –Ibinabo Fibresima

President, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima, tells Nonye Ben-Nwankwo about her career and how she has coped after her time in the prisons
When you look back at everything that has happened to you, are you fulfilled?
I am not fulfilled. I thank God for
where I have reached so far in this short time. But if I can get all I
asked from President Goodluck Jonathan when the Actors Guild of Nigeria
visited him, I would be more fulfilled.
How did you secure audience with the President given his tight schedule?
I wrote more than 20 letters to the
presidency on behalf of the guild. I got a reply one year after. I
didn’t do anything special. It was just letters that I kept sending. I
was just lucky that one eventually came through and I thank God.
As much as you said the visit to
the Presidency was to solicit support for the guild, but we hear that
huge money also exchanged hands. We learnt you were given N2m while the
other actors that went with you were given N500, 000 each…
Wow! We were not given any money. We went
there for a visit. Amazingly too, most of the people that went there
paid for their transportation. We were not given any money; I can tell
you again and again. We didn’t go there for that. We didn’t go to ask
for money. We went there as a body. We are only actors. The industry
needs money to make us better.
So, where is the story from?
Those complaining are the selfish ones
that usually go there to collect money and share. In their minds, that
was what we went there to do. You can ask anybody you know that went for
the visit. We were not given any money.
What makes you think you will even get what you asked for from the Presidency?
I am confident. There are transformations
going on in most sectors. It is just that before now, the Presidency
had not heard the truth about what we needed as a body. People who had
gone to represent us had not told him what we needed. I know he will
redeem his promise. Nollywood is an export item you wouldn’t want to
mess with right now. It is not only about oil anymore. Nollywood has
surpassed so many things. We are on the level that everybody would have
to reckon with us. Why can’t we be like Hollywood?
Is it not amazing that after these decades, Nollywood has not really moved forward?
It is the truth. It is because we don’t
have treaties. Most of our leaders have not been able to understand what
it is to be leaders. I have gone out of the shores of Nigeria to find
out why people can’t come to shoot films here and why we can’t go there.
Treaties ought to be signed so it would be on paper that they are
welcome here. Most other African countries have treaties and we don’t
have, yet we have a bigger film industry. Now, the President knows about
it. He didn’t know before.
Your tenure hasn’t been devoid of
controversies. Some people want you out and there are some other
factions who claim you are not AGN president…
The factions are irrelevant to me. They
come to me and say one thing and they go behind me and say another
thing. At a point, I had to tell them to stop coming to me because I
wanted peace. We were in court and I thought that was the better place
to deal with it. The court threw their case out because they didn’t have
a case. Every leader has critics attacking him or her. You say
something and people would interpret it wrongly. But I know what I am
doing.
Your story is that of grace to
grass and to grace again. Did you ever think you would get over that
terrible period of your life?
No. At that time, I didn’t believe so.
But when I gave my life to Christ, it didn’t matter to me the state I
was. I didn’t care if it was grace or grass. I was just contented and
happy with myself. That was all that mattered to me.
Do you still remember those days you were incarcerated?
My uncle told me that I should stop going
down that path. I can’t go back there. You get to that point in your
life where you just move on. Nothing matters any more. I am just at
peace and that is all that matters to me.
Do you still have time to feature in movies these days?
It is time-consuming, I agree. But I
still feature in movies. I have a perfect secretary general. My work is
fun. I am even going to Borno State soon. I will go with some actors and
actresses. We want to go to some of the areas that have been affected
by the crisis and see what we can do to help them. We want to show them
love in our own little way. I don’t want to talk about it now till we
have gone and come back.
Is it true that AGN election will not take place this year because you want to continue as president?
I am a very transparent person. Election
will hold. I don’t want anybody to say I did this or that eventually. If
they don’t think I am good for them, they wouldn’t have suggested this.
I am a very simple person. This is just who I am.
Are you sure you are happy?
I am happy. I am contented. I am a
happy-go-lucky woman. I don’t have stress and I don’t give anybody
stress. Whatever has to be will be.
We learnt you ignored Fred Amata, the father of your child, at an event the other day. Are you having squabbles?
I can never ignore Fred. Even if he is
with a woman, I will go and kiss him. I will never disrespect him. Even
if I am with a man, I must always walk up to him and greet him. Some
people wouldn’t do that. I have seen people who got separated and
divorced and they don’t speak to each other in public, I will never do
that. Even if we had quarrelled before the event, I would still walk up
to him and greet him.
Have you ruled out marriage?
Which marriage? Please I am not marrying Fred.
What of another man?
There is an opening. When I see a man who
wants to marry me, I will marry him. I want to marry please. All my
children are grown-up now. I need my own company. Even my kids ask me
when I am getting married and I keep telling them I will marry when I
find the man. I have not ruled out marriage at all.
If you have any questions or suggestions feel free to drop your comment in the comment box below.
