Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been appointed into a High Level Group on Governance of the Commonwealth Secretariat. Prof. Ben Maloney, Communications Officer, Commonwealth Secretariat, said in a statement that the High Level Group would make recommendations on governance of the Commonwealth Secretariat. The Commonwealth, however, denied that the group was constituted to secretly begin considering who might succeed the Queen as its head.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen; Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State; his predecessor and the current Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; and the immediate past Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, are among high-profile personalities currently under its investigation.
The names are contained in the list of high-profile cases involving over 100 politically-exposed persons and top-ranking public officers still being investigated by the EFCC as of August 2017, The Punch reliably learnt on Monday.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala named director at UK bank — to earn £130,000 a year

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former minister of finance, has been named an independent non-executive director at Standard Chartered PLC. . Standard Chartered PLC is a British multinational banking and financial services company headquartered in London, and with presence in 70 countries. . The company said her appointment is effective from November 1, 2017. The independent Non-Executive Directors do not participate in any of the Group’s incentive arrangements. . She will receive a fee of GBP100,000 per annum for her services as an independent Non-Executive Director, with an additional fee of GBP30,000 per annum as a member of the Brand, Values and Conduct Committee."

Okonjo-Iweala begged me not to say Nigeria was broke –Amaechi



The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has said a former Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, pleaded with him not to tell Nigerians that the country was broke. Amaechi, who said the country went into recession under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, added that the previous administration covered up with the excuse that the country was cash-strapped. An online medium, The Cable, reported that Amaechi said this on the Osasu Show on Tuesday.

I Paid Dasuki N63bn from Abacha Loot – Okonjo-Iweala


Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala on Wednesday said she had paid former National Security Adviser to the President, Col Sambo Dasuki $322m (about N63billion) from recovered Abacha funds to finance military operations. She was reacting to online media reports that accused her of illegally diverting the Abacha funds to the office of the former NSA. The money was returned to Nigeria in January 2015.

Governors Shared from Missing N20bn - Okonjo Iweala



Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has suggested that Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi got a piece of the missing $20billion from the Excess Crude Account (ECA). Okonjo-Iweala who was reacting to claims by governors that $20bn was missing in the ECA insinuated that if the governors continue to hold on their claim that the money is missing, it means, they shared of the money, which she stated was not missing at all.
