The terrorist who killed 22 people by detonating a suicide bomb at Manchester Arena has been named Salman Abedi. Abedi was born in Manchester in 1994 and is the second youngest of four children. He grew up in the Whalley Range area, close to a local girls' high school. It is the same school of twins and former star pupils, Zahra and Salma Halane, both formerly aspiring medical students, who left their homes and moved to Syria in 2015. Abedi was reportedly a student at Salford University.

At least 19 people are dead and 50 more injured after a suspected suicide bomber targeted children leaving a packed pop concert at Manchester Arena last night. The nail bomb was reportedly planted near the exit. Witnesses told of nuts and bolts tearing into young concert-goers when the blast was detonated in the foyer area between the arena and the next-door Victoria station just after the Ariana Grande gig ended.

Some Boko Haram suicide bombers killed a security man and left many others injured after attacking the university premises. Two bomb explosions on Thursday night rocked the University of Maiduguri, Borno State, The Independent reveals. The bombing was confirmed by the President of the Students’ Union Government of the institution, Abu Babati. He said the first one went off at about 10.50pm on Thursday with the second two hours later, about 12 am on Friday.
