Robin Thicke is suing the Marvin Gaye estate in order to protect his summer smash hit ‘Blurred Lines’ from lawsuits from the estate of the iconic soul singer.
Robin Thicke as well as Pharell and T.I filed a lawsuit last week Thursday against Marvin Gaye’s family who are claiming that ‘Blurred Lines’ sounds and feels the same way as Marvin Gaye’s ‘Got To Give It Up’.
According to the suit by Robin Thicke ‘Plaintiffs, who have the utmost respect for and admiration of Marvin Gaye, Funkadelic and their musical legacies, reluctantly file this action in the face of multiple adverse claims from alleged successors in interest to those artists.
Reps of Gaye’s estate continue to insist that Thicke’s massively successful composition, ‘Blurred Lines’ copies ‘their’ compositions.’
A lawsuit was also filed against Funkadelic who are also claiming that Robin Thicke’s hit songs sounds like Funkadelic’s ‘Sexy Ways’.
