Movie Review: Tonto Dikeh As A Drug Addict In UcheJombo’s‘My Life, My Damage’

'My Life, My Damage' is a movie produced by UcheJombo and directed by Moses Inwang. It deals with the consequences of drug abuse and HIV/AIDS. A young lady played by Tonto Dikeh lives a reckless life abroad as a drug addict is given a rude shock when she discovers that she is HIV positive and now has to seek redemption for herself.
'My Life My Damage' is one of the movies from the trilogy of 'Damage' movies and this one features Tonto Dikeh, Bukky Wright, KaluIkeagwu, Biola Williams, James Tucker, Bobby Obobo and others. The 'Damage' trilogy is a collection of three distinct but interwoven stories aimed at support for social issues, each storylooking at problems affecting individuals in the society.

In the movie, Tonto Dikeh plays the part of a young medical student called Dora, who works in a group home with aspirations and dreams of being a Medical Doctor. She gains admission into a University in the United States where she meets Jason who introduces her to another side of life which completely ruins her. She soon loses her head and focus.
She desperately turns into the arms of drugs to give her a sort of temporary respite from the issues affecting her life, an abyss which she continues to sink deeper and deeper into and never recovers from.
The movie accurately depicts the life of the careless, young wild and reckless youth as we now have in today's society. Youths who are influenced by peer pressure to go into cultism, alcohol and drugs as a sort of blackout from their problems.
In all, the movie went straight to the point, minces no word in heading straight for the main events. Although the movie had a great idea of societal values and morals, the depiction was wrongly placed and the movie could have been better. It will however pass its messages across to youths to keep their heads up and remain focused no matter what life brings their way.
