This statement is yet to be made public, but our undercover correspondent at CBN HQ, Abuja, tells FNN that this scheme would be introduced on New Year's Day for a reason.
In the words of a CBN Director who pleaded anonymity, "Mr. President has decided that instead of the usual New Year's present to Nigerians which involved increase in Fuel Price or Bomb blast, he will usher the New Year in with the wonderful news that Nigerians can now port to any bank whenever their bank starts messing up. It is still talked about in muted tones here at CBN, but we have already contacted Saka to do the TV commercial. He can't say 'kirikata' though. Copyright Infringement. But there might be some twerking involved sha. Not from Saka, of course."
The porting scheme, which started in the telecommunications sector is expected to generate very fierce competition within banks and this would also help improve their customer services. No word yet on how the top bank executives are reacting to this development. More as the story develops
