Teez couture is a fast growing name in the fashion industry, the CEO Toluwalase Setonji Sadique had an exclusive interview with OCB where he talks about his career, starting up and achievements, enjoy!
What does your brand name mean?
The brand name Teez couture, Teez derived from my name Toluwalase while couture means the design and production of fashionable high quality hand made clothes and shoes.
What is your full name?
Toluwalase setonji sadique.
When was Teez Couture founded?
Teez couture was founded in 2009.
When did you discover your passion for fashion?
Discovered my passion for fashion in the year 1999
Where are you from? Have you ever had any form of training?
Lagos state badagry west local government ,i got trained by my boss, mentor, confidant, LOPEZ Varieties.
Educational Background:
First school leaving certificate: Triple cross nursery and primary school, then SSCE Baptist Bowen College and finally BSC North American university.
What inspires you?
Almighty Allah, my mum and my sister gives me inspiration
What's your interpretation of fashion?
My interpretation for fashion is simplicity, when it meets with style. Fashion is a general term for a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, Fashion is always changing, slightly elusive, extremely seductive. It has the power to transform an image and make a social statement.
But for most people it is a method of utilizing clothing, accessories and hair to show or hide something about yourself.
When did u make up your mind to express your passion for fashion and how has your involvement in fashion been since then?
I discovered my passion for fashion in the year 2007 before I started in 2009.
What are your expectations for Teez Couture?
My expectation for Teez couture is for it to go globally

How easy is it for you to continuously come up with new ideas?

It is taskful, but by Almighty Allah's grace it becomes easy lol

What is your assessment of the Nigerian fashion situation?

I think from my own assessment I would say nigerian fashion is just few steps away frm getting there. At least we are able to host fashion shows here that meet the international standard Buh what I think our designers should do is be more daring wiv their collections and let their designs challenge their international counterparts

What has nudity got to do with fashion?
Nudity has got nothing to do with fashion, it baffles me whenever I see girls flaunting their assets all in the name of fashion! Damn, fashion isn't nudity..I don't buy the idea of nudity in fashion.
What are the challenges you encounter in your line of business?
Hmmmmm what I encounter is wen we work so hard to deliver the jobs and the client refuse to pay afterwards and they so much love our concept
What milestones have you reached since you founded your business?
I have gotten to some limit but still aspire to go further
Do you have models that wear your designs?
Yes I have models dat wear my designs
As an upcoming designer how do you intend to compete with other well known successful designers?
Hmmmmmmmmm, by making my designs distinguished from others that is by making people simple to its best Because Teez couture is where Style begins.
Are there a specific type of people you love to dress and why? Give an idea of those you would love to see use your brand.
I wouldn't want to mention names but I want everyone to have my brand in their closet.
I would love to dress John Dumelo and Genivieneve. Because they are always looking good any day anytime and they are always simple and elegant which is part of our motto.
What is your advice to other young adults out there that dream of going into your kind of business?
My advice to young adult is to put God first, stay focused and put their best in anything they do
Are you married or in a relationship?
Hhahahhahhahah lol am in a relationship
How do you relax?
I relax by travelling, swimming, watching movies and spending time with my love ones
