Award winning Nigerian author, Chimamanda Adichie, who recently won the National Book Critics Circle Award for her third novel, Americanah, has hinted at a possible collaboration with Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o.
Speaking to Arise Entertainment 360, she said: ’I’m going to do the mysterious thing and say that Lupita might be making an announcement very soon. I don’t know. That announcement might be about Americanah.’
Lupita, who picked up the best supporting actress Oscar for her feature film debut in harrowing race drama ’12 Years a Slave’, is said to be in the running for the part of the female lead.
Chimamanda’s 2013 novel Americanah, which is centered around the life of young Nigerian woman who emigrated to America for a university education and returned years after, was named as one of New York Times’ best books of 2013.
Her sophomore book, ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’, has already been made into a movie.
