200 Ghanaian Football Fans Refuse To Leave Brazil; Request Asylum

 

 About 200 Ghanaian fans have refused to leave Brazil oh. According to the Brazilian federal police, these fans have requested asylum, after entering the country initially on tourist visa to experience the 2014 World Cup. Asylum is the protection granted by a state to someone who has left their home country as a political refugee   The Ghanaians are claiming they are muslims fleeing inter-religious conflicts in their country. They have filed applications in Caxias do Sul.

  “Asylum cannot be requested at a Brazilian embassy. The asylum seeker must be in the country to apply. We have hundreds of Syrian refugees in Brazil at the moment in the same situation.” revealed an officer.
