Recurrent
poor performances in the West African Secondary School Certificate
examinations(WAEC) and other public examinations have been blamed on
inconsistent power supply in the country.
This
claim was made by Chief Yomi Ogunnusi, representing Ifako-Ijiaye
constituency in Lagos. The lawmaker said the poor power supply was a big
hindrance to learning; he said it would not encourage students to study
hard.
The
2014 results released by the West African Examination Council showed
that only 31.28% of candidates who sat for the West African Secondary
School Certificate examination passed with five credits in five subjects
including Mathematics and English Language.
