Colonel Obasanjo, who is fondly called Boye, was leading a platoon of
Nigerian soldiers yesterday on an operation against members of the
terror group, Boko Haram, whensome insurgent fighters ambushed him and
his subordinates.
Colonel Obasanjo’s platoon was part of a military mission to liberate the town of Michika and other surrounding towns, including the hometown of Major General J.S. Zaruwa, the General Officer Commanding the 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.

Colonel Obasanjo’s Boye’s column. Among the casualties was an unnamed
colonel. The former president’s son received gunshot wounds in his legs.
