According to reports reaching Naij.com, the students have shut the institution’s main gate, as they asked the Vice Chancellor, Professor Rahman Bello, to intervene in the matter. Some of the students, who spoke with our correspondent, noted that since the electrocution took place within the school premises, the school management should take responsibility for the incident, which has left the family of the student in tears.

late student, Oluchi Anekwe, who was reportedly electrocuted on her way to her room in Sodeinde Residence, New Hall, was said to have been rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), but was pronounced dead on arrival. During the protest, the students chanted “No VC, No going back” as they demanded Professor Bello’s presence among them. The students also took to twitter to express their anger over the unfortunate incident, noting that many are still unaware of the naked wires which are laying recklessly on the way to their hostels. A memo signed by Abiodun Martins, the institution’s Students Union Government (SUG) president also showed the students’ displeasure with the ‘unavoidable’ incident. It read: GREATEST AKOKITES!!!
