Court Releases Oscar Pistorius from Prison to House Arrest

The South African, double-amputee Olympian Oscar Pistorius has been released from prison. Correctional Services spokesman Manelisi Wolela confirmed that Pistorius, 28, was released and placed on house arrest after serving only one year of his five-year sentence.

Pistorius’ sentence started last October after he was convicted of shooting and killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, a model and law school graduate on Valentine's Day in 2013. Last week a South African parole board approved Pistorius' move to house arrest and correctional supervision for the next four years.
