Customs Boss, Hameed Ali Met With Bukola Saraki Behind Closed-door...See Details

The Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday evening, held a closed-door session with the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs service, Hameed Ali.

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs service, Retired Colonel Hameed Ali, who is currently in dilemma to wear his official uniform and appear before the Nigerian Senate, was on Tuesday evening, locked in a closed-door meeting with the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki. The Customs boss' meeting with the Senate president yesterday evening, is coming on a day Ali had written the Senate to say he would not honour the invitation extended to him to appear at plenary in his official uniform.
The National Assembly lawmakers, has however insisted that he must appear in uniform on Wednesday at the Senate plenary, and in what appeared to be a dramatic turn around, Ali sought an audience with Saraki for about 50 minutes. The details of the closed-door session between Saraki and Ali were still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, but sources said it was to get a soft landing for the Customs CG, who some senators have vowed must go if he failed to heed the summons and appear in uniform. With the visit, there may be a closed door session ahead of plenary on this morning (Wednesday) in order to calm the nerves of angry senators.
