An increasing number of women all over the world are now having surgery for an adorable facial feature - the dimples, thanks to plastic surgery.
Dr Amiya Prasad, a New York-based cosmetic surgeon, had told Fox 10 news; 'People like dimples, it's a unique group, a tremendous interest in it and we are surprised by the people who want to have dimples.'
Dimpleplasty, as it's known, has been around for some 30 years, but it has gained popularity in recent times, thanks in part to dimple-cheeked celebrity icons like Kate Middleton, and is one of the more affordable cosmetic procedures available today.
At a cost of between $1,200 and $2,500, depending on the surgeon, the surgery takes only half an hour and is performed as an outpatient procedure. The incision is made inside the cheek, so there is no scar and, according to Dr Prasad, 'hardly any swelling or soreness.'
A woman identified as Lee Williams, who spent a year considering the dimple surgery, before ultimately going under the scalpel, said for her, it's all about attaining more of a cherubic grin.
'I just want someone to perk me up a little bit, make me a little cuter, a little more of a remember-able smile,' she says.
