Three pilgrims from Kaduna state died while performing the 2017 hajj exercise in Mecca. The Overseer of the Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Imam Hussaini Sulaiman Tsoho revealed this to Daily Trust in Mecca.. He said that two of the pilgrims died before the Arafat day while the remaining one took ill on the day of Arafat and died two days later in the hospital. Tsoho added that two other pilgrims had sustained fractures but were treated and discharged from the
hospital.

He described the exercise as successful as there was no much problems encountered by the state despite having the highest number of pilgrims from Nigeria. About 7000 pilgrims from the state performed this year Hajj which was 378 above the seats allocated to the state by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. According to Tsoho, pilgrims from the state are known to be disciplined and law-abiding as such there was never a criminal case involving any of their pilgrims in the Holy Land.
