Senators, Reps End Secret Joint Session, Threaten Buhari

Senate president Bukola Saraki and House of Reps Speaker Yakubu Dogara today presided over an emergency joint session of both chambers of the National Assembly. According to sources, angry lawmakers at the secret meeting declared war against the Presidency. What are their demands? They were said to have reached a resolution that President Muhammadu Buhari should immediately sack the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris for "embarrassing" Saraki, Dino Melaye and other lawmakers being invited, arrested or tried for one offence or the other.

Credible sources revealed to us that the leadership of the National Assembly led by Saraki and Dogara have threatened to invoke constitutional powers against Buhari if he decides to refuse to act against the IGP according to their wishes. Based on security report, President Buhari is also said to be meeting with joint Security Chiefs behind closed doors to checkmate Saraki and his loyal lawmakers. The battle for political survival is sure getting interesting in Abuja, Nigeria's seat of power.
