Custom officials in the Federal Capital Territory nabbed two fake offiicers who have been soiling their image and defrauding unsuspecting victims with their uniforms.

 

They were paraded publicly around their office and compelled to undertake a rigorous physical punishment to serve as a lesson to other would-be impostors.

Customs Area Comptroller in charge of Calabar Free Trade Zone, Cross River and Akwa Ibom Command, Mrs. Nanbyen Burromvyat, has said the command intercepted three consignments containing 140 species of snakes imported into Nigeria. Also, the command intercepted 600 animals, made up of geckos, millipedes, hairy frogs and spiders, in the containers. The items were said to have been imported from Cameroon and were intercepted by officers on July 24, 2017, on arrival at the NIWA jetty, with a market value of N6.9 million. Burromvyat said the consignments, which were Lagos-bound, were prohibited items, under Schedule 3 of the Revised Import Prohibition List (Trade) in the Common External Tariff.

The Nigeria Customs Service has revealed the date for the commencement of the next batch of bidding online as the e-auction continues. It has been revealed that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) will commence the next batch of another 48 hours of bidding on July 10 as the e-auction committee reloads the portal with more items. The Public Relations Officer of the NCS, Mr Joseph Attah said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja. Attah said that the announcement of the 43 winners that emerged after the 48 hours of bidding ended the first batch. He said that following the end of the first bidding batch, the e-auction committee would reload the portal with more items for the next batch.
