NET REPORTING.....
From NET findings, the Managing Director of M-Net did not resign her post, but was instead redeployed as Managing Director of Special projects.
According to an official statement released by M-Net/Africa Magic, the new appointment is as a result of the growth of M-net Africa which has seen the organisation name Regional Directors for East and West Africa, as opposed to having a single Managing director overseeing the entire continent.
The statement said, ‘M-Net wishes to confirm the strategic evolution of M-Net Africa MD Biola Alabi’s role with the pan African broadcaster. Having served in this role at M-Net Africa for five highly successful years during which time she brought her well-honed business perspective and creative insights to one of Africa’s biggest entertainment companies, she has taken on a new strategic role with the organization, that of Managing Director: Special Projects. In this capacity her portfolio now focuses primarily on the broadcaster’s flagship productions including but not limited to the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, the popular reality super series Big Brother Africa and several exciting new initiatives.’
The situation is sensitive, especially as the MNET-organised Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards holds this weekend. And many industry insiders say there’s plenty going on at the South African company in terms of change in structure and operations.
Meanwhile, M-Net has appointed Mrs Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu as the first Regional Director for West Africa.
