A South African magistrate has postponed the murder trial of global sports star Oscar Pistorius until August 19 after lawyers asked for time to prepare for the case.
The 26-year-old Pistorius, the double-amputee Olympic sprinter charged with the murder of his girlfriend, appeared at a pre-trial hearing in a South African court on Tuesday.
The hearing, a first since Pistorius was released on bail in February, was brief, as the prosecution and the defence agreed to postpone the trial.

Pistorius was charged with premeditated murder after he shot Reeva Steenkamp, a 29-year-old model, in the bathroom of his home on February 14.
He said he had mistaken her for an intruder.
The two been dating for just a few months. The murder stunned and outraged South Africans, who considered Pistorius a national hero.
"I want to know why he shot her, she must have been so afraid in that toilet," Steenkamp's motherJune was quoted as saying in media reports.
"We don't know what happened, only one personwho knows what happened."
Pistorius won numerous medals in the Paralympic Games and became the first amputee runner to compete in the Olympics at the Londongames last year.
