Nigeria has no plans to rename the University of
Ibadan after late Dora Akunyili, former Minister of Information and
Communications, who recently passed away following protracted illness..
The
Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Goodluck Jonathan,
Dr. Reuben Abati, denied the news as 'fake' and urged Nigerians to
ignore it.
Abati took to Twitter to debunk the rumor.
Nobody ever said Mr President is considering naming University
of Ibadan after Late Professor Dora Akunyili. Please ignore fake
news.

Nigerians had earlier
gone on social media to condemn the purported plans. A tweet posted by
@walegates, echoed the most popular opinion.
Pls tell me Reubati Abati didn't say that, this is kinda shit
that causes insults on the dead. Leave UI, honour Dora another
way.

The Special Adviser said there was an official statement expressing President Jonathan's coondolence.
"On
Dora Akunyili, there is an official statement conveying President
Jonathan's heartfelt condolences. We stand by that statement," he
tweeted.
