Nigerians Remember #SosolisoCrash, 10 Years After

Ten years ago, December 10 2005 precisely, a Sosoliso Airlines Flight 1145 from Abuja to Port Harcourt crashed on landing with 110 people on board. 60 students of Loyola Jesuit College (LJC), Abuja aboard the aircraft died including Pastor Bimbo Odukoya of Fountain of Life Church. It was reported according to a witness that the plane was struck by lightning about 40 or 50 metres from touching down and the fuel in the wing caught fire and it exploded.

Students of the Loyola Jesuit College (LJC) were headed home for the Christmas holidays when the Sosoliso aircraft conveying them crashed in Port Harcourt. The crash claimed all the lives on board, except two (one LJC student and another passenger). It was an overwhelming catastrophe that cast a shadow in the lives of everyone involved and the nation as a whole.

Aside from the families of the victims, the entire nation was also thrown in mourning. May the souls of our dearly departed continue to rest in perfect peace.
