Portugal Breaks France To Emerge Champion Of Euro 2016!

Portugal has defeated hosts France 1-0 to win Euro 2016 championship! After the match ended 0-0 in regular time, Eder’s powerful extra-time strike proved the difference at the Stade de France, leaving the host nation stunned. The former Swansea striker, average during his time at the Liberty Stadium, let fly from 25 yards out and found the bottom left-hand corner of Hugo Lloris’ goal in the 109th minute.

The France keeper desperately dived to his right but he just couldn’t get there and Eder races away in celebration. There are tears from the Portugal bench, most notably under the eyes of Ronaldo, and France are on the brink of defeat in the national stadium!

Cristiano Ronaldo, who was forced off injured in the first half, led the celebrations at the final whistle in what was a backs-to-the-wall performance from Fernando Santos’ side for most of the match, but the team took its chance in extra time. France had big opportunities, the clearest of which fell to Andre-Pierre Gignac in second-half stoppage time, but the substitute struck the post. A goal then would surely have won the tournament.
