Rapper, Michael Stephens, popularly known as Ruggedman has explained his beef with former friend, Abolore Akande, 9ce. According to Ruggedman, the new single was dropped basically for the industry and not to squash beef with 9ce. Rumours made rounds on social media that the duo’s new single titled ‘Religion’, was dropped to squash their beef. Reacting to the claims, Ruggedman said “What 9ice and I did for the industry with the song Ruggedy Baba is huge and more important than any alleged beef”. He went on further to say that “That’s why I decided to make the new song about our positive contribution to our industry and not about beef”.

 

“I decided not to add anything about the past in the new song “Religion” cos thats one negative, misinterpreted aspect of our lives i want buried with the past”. The feud between the duo started when 9ice released his controversial single, ‘Once Bitten’, and whistle blowers claimed that 9ice sang about his marriage in the song. Rumour had it then that 9ice was referring to Ruggedman as the man he said he caught sleeping with his lover.

The issue, however, went sour because almost after the release of the controversial song, 9ice ended his marriage with Toni Payne.
