Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose on Tuesday appeared in public for the first time since his deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, lost the governorship election held on Saturday. Fayose visited the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe, on Thursday at his palace where he alleged that he and his supporters were still being persecuted by the Federal Government after losing election on Saturday.

Atiku Reacts To Attack On Governor Fayose

In a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said he is appalled at the images coming out of Ekiti State. The influential Adamawa state politician said that behaviours such as experienced in Ekiti were an uncivil assault on democracy and falls short of democratic best practices. He reminded the APC that the current administration came into being because the preceding PDP Federal Government ensured free and fair elections.

Ekiti people defy Fayose’s orders, troop out for Buhari, Fayemi

The people of Ekiti state gave an indication of their voting intention on Tuesday when they defied the orders by outgoing Governor Ayodele Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party, ordering buses and taxis off the roads and urging residents in the state capital of Ado-Ekiti to stay at home and snub visiting President Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari was in Ado-Ekiti to attend the grand finale of All Progressives Congress candidate Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s campaign for the governorship seat, in the election holding on Saturday 14 July. Fayose’s deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olubunmi Olusola-Eleka is Fayemi’s main challenger.

Fayose Confronts INEC, Police, With Video Evidence of Rigging

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Tuesday, confronted the Independent National Electoral Commission with video evidence of pre-loading of card readers in the state. This came a day after a National Commissioner with INEC, Mrs Aminat Zakari, challenged Fayose to prove allegations that she had conspired with three others to pre-load card readers, supply faulty card readers and provide ballot papers for stuffing of ballot boxes. Fayose also tackled the Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmed Bello and the Director of the Department of State Services, Mrs Promise Ihenacho, for allegedly deploying security aides of former governor Kayode Fayemi to Ekiti State to rig the July 14 governorship election. The governor pointed out that Fayemi’s ex-Chief Security Officer, Hakeem Abiola, and former Aide de camp, Adeyemi Ajayi, were already in the state to coordinate indiscriminate arrest of the members of the opposition.

Fayose Reacts To Release Of 101 Dapchi Schoolgirls

Following the release of about 101 Dapchi school girls kidnapped by Boko Haram today, the Governor of Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has congratulated parents of the children. He also sympathized with parents of five of the girls that reportedly died. The Governor however described the abduction of the girls as an indictment of the federal government and their release as “drama scripted by the government and its agents to swindle Nigerians.” Fayose, while reacting to the release of the abducted school girls, said; “This appears like an arranged abduction and an arranged release, but we thank God that the innocent girls have returned home and we condole with parents of those that died.”

Less than 24 hours after staging a rally to celebrate the third years anniversary of his return as Ekiti State governor, retirees in Ekiti State on Thursday asked the governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, to pay their pension arrears and benefits totaling N19.7 billion. The pensioners also lamented the state of neglect suffered by many of their members, leading to their untimely death. They called for the review of their pensions in conformity with Section 210(3) of the 1999 Constitution.
