University degrees no longer meal ticket, Buhari tells Nigerian graduates

President Muhammadu Buhari has reminded Nigerian graduates that earning a university degree is no longer a meal ticket. Buhari stated this on Friday at the 13th Convocation for the conferment of higher degrees, postgraduate diplomas and honorary degrees of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State. He told the graduates that university degrees and diplomas would rather assist them to grapple with challenges of life.

FG hires lawyers in Saudi Arabia to facilitate the release of Zainab Habib wrongly accused of drug peddling

Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, this morning announced that the National Hajj Commission has hired Saudi Arabian lawyers to help in the facilitation of the release of Zainab Aliyu, the Nigerian lady falsely accused of drug peddling in Saudi Arabia. Zainab was arrested in December 2018 with Tramadol, a banned substance.

President Buhari offers employment, scholarships to 168 ex-corps members




President Buhari has given automatic employment to 168 ex-corps members and also scholarships up to Doctorate level in Nigerian universities of their choice. The automatic employment was presented to the ex-corps members at the combined 2015/2016/2017 President’s NYSC Honours Award held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja last night April 26th. Represented at the ceremony by the Vice President,Yemi Osinbajo, Presidnet Buhari said the awardees would be absorbed into the Federal Civil Service. 15 ex-corps members who suffered disability during their service year were also recognised under the NYSC Hope Alive programme. The Federal Government has said that it has perfected plans to flush out Ponzi scheme and illegal lottery operators from the country. The hint was given to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday by the Permanent Secretary for Special Duties in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Festus Dauda. During the declaration of a two-day specialised training programme organised for members of staff of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Festus said, “the Federal Government is doing everything possible to make sure that the illegal operators and quacks in the industry are eliminated. That is why we have empowered the regulatory commission with modern technology that would enable them to apprehend all the illegal operators and quacks with a view to prosecuting and sending them to jail.

With few weeks to the end of his first term in office, President Muhammadu Buhari has spent a total of 404 days (a year and 39 days) travelling to 33 countries on four continents in about four years of his first term in office, Saturday PUNCH can report. The country he visited the most was the United Kingdom where he spent 217 days mostly on health grounds and meetings of Commonwealth Heads of State and Government.

We have rescued Nigeria from Boko Haram – Buhari boasts in Abu Dhabi

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in Dubai, stated that his government has succeeded in rescuing Nigeria from Boko Haram insurgents. 


 He spoke at a town hall meeting with members of the Nigerian Community in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Buhari, who also pledged more government investments in research, technology as well educational institutions, promised that the prudent economic management, diversification of production and revenue bases of the administration in the last four years will be sustained. ‘‘The Next Level is to consolidate whatever we have done till 2023 and it makes common sense that in order to manage any outfit, whether a nation, state or organisation, you have to secure it.

Buhari Certificate Saga Is Dead Issue – Presidency


The Presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday hit back at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after the opposition party took President Muhammadu Buhari to task over his Secondary School certificate . The Presidency dismissed the flak from the PDP as an indication of idleness on the part of those speaking for the party on the matter, while the APC branded the criticism trivial. “The certificate saga is a dead issue, only idle people will consider it,” the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Mr. Femi Adesina, told The Nation yesterday when contacted. “It is something that had been laid to rest before the 2015 general elections,” he added.

Barring any last-minute change in plans, President Muhammadu Buhari will vie for the chairmanship of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Lome, Togo, on Tuesday, TheCable can report. A new chairman will succeed President Faure Gnassingbe of Togo at the end of the 53rd Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government. Buhari departed Abuja on Sunday for Lome in company with a team of two governors and five ministers. Also in the delegation are Babagana Monguno, the national security adviser (NSA); Abayomi Olonisakin, chief of defence staff; Ahmed Abubakar, the DG of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA); and Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

My Security Chiefs Racking Their Brains To End Killings - Buhari


President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, urged Nigerians to be patient with him as his administration made efforts to tackle ongoing killings in parts of the country. He said members of his security teams were racking their brains to come up with a lasting solution. President Muhammadu Buhari today accused politicians of blackmailing him over the killings of Nigerians by herdsmen all over the country. Recall that over 54 innocent villagers were last week massacred by bloodthirsty herdsmen in Plateau state. Nigerians have been condemning the ruling party and the president for his non-chalant approach in handling the menace. However, while speaking at a mega rally of the All Progressives’ Congress, APC, in Ekiti State on Tuesday, the president said mischievous politicians have been wrongfully accusing him of failing to take action on the crisis because of his Fulani ethnicity, the same as that of the herdsmen held largely responsible for the killings. He said contrary to the allegations, his administration is committed to protecting the lives and properties of Nigerians.
