$322m Abacha loot: Osinbajo reveals how beneficiaries would be selected


Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo has finally cleared the air on how the beneficiaries of the direct cash transfer from the $322m recovered Abacha loot would be paid. The money is part of the loot stashed in Switzerland by the late former Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha The Vice President made the clarification on Wednesday at the launching of the Monitoring of Recovered Assets through Transparency and Accountability project.

Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and wife of the President, Aisha Buhari on Thursday called for more prayers and unity of the country. Both spoke during the breaking of fast by Muslims, Iftar, in association with the Christian faithful at the Conference Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Osinbajo not favouring Christians, his stewards are Muslims – says aide


Senior special assistant on legal matters to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, Bilkisu Saidu, says that most senior positions in the office of her principal are held by northerners, and that his meals are even served by Muslims. Saidu was reacting to comments credited to one Ismaila Farouk from Zamfara that appointments made by the acting president into some federal agencies and in his office were lopsided. Speaking in an interview on BBC Hausa Radio on Sunday, the vice-presidential aide described the nepotism charges “as simply laughable, untrue, unfair and should not be taken seriously”. According to her, “most senior positions on the vice president’s office are held by Muslims including by individuals who are from the north”.

Osinbajo Will Sign 2017 Budget As Soon As He’s Satisfied With The Details


Those thinking acting President Yemi Osinbajo can't sign budget should have a rethink. He'll sign the 2017 budget into law once satisfied with it, Laolu Akande, his spokesperson, has said. The N7.441 trillion budget was passed by the national assembly one week ago, on May 11. But it's yet to be transmitted to the presidency, according to minister of information, Lai Mohammed.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has declared that Ibrahim Magu does not need the Senate’s confirmation as the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to function in that position. Osinbajo who spoke at a media parley with journalists organised by the Presidency’s Office of Digital Engagement at his residence in Abuja, quoted Section 1, sub-section 71 of the Nigerian constitution as “evidence that the government need not even have produced Mr. Magu to be cleared by the Senate at all.”
