Boko Haram Fighters Are Usually Paid $3,000 Daily - Sidi Ali Mohammed

A member of the Presidential Committee on the North East Initiative (PCNI) Dr. Sidi Ali Mohammed has disclosed Boko Haram fighters were being paid $3,000 daily. He made this disclosure at the Presentation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Sub-Sahara Africa’s Economic Outlook Report, in Abuja on Monday. According to him, the payment dwarfs the N1, 000 daily allowances paid to Nigerian troops at the war front. Mohammed, who is the Head of the Humanitarian Assistance and Rehabilitation arm of the PCNI, lamented that Boko Haram has been hijacked and operates like a cartel.

Girl, 15 Escapes from Boko Haram Camp

The Nigerian Army on Sunday said it intercepted a 15-year-old girl, Zainab Mohammed, who escaped from the captivity of the Boko Haram insurgents. According to the Spokesman for the Army, Brig Gen Texas Chukwu, the teenager was intercepted by “troops of 28 Task Force Brigade deployed in operation Lafiya Dole on July 29, 2018, at Gubla after she escaped from one of the terrorists’ camps.

A 32 year-old former Boko Haram Commander, Rawana Goni, has appealed to the Nigerian military authorities to allow him make a phone call to the elusive leader, Abubakar Shekau and at least 137 other terrorists to make them surrender. Goni, who is undergoing rehabilitation at a military detention camp in Maiduguri, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

94 students missing as Boko Haram attacks Yobe school

Following an attack by suspected Boko Haram members on Government Giris Secondary School Dapchi, in Yobe state on Monday, 94 students have been declared missing. According to DailyTrust, source in the school revealed that the number of missing kids was confirmed after an afternoon roll call on the students. “After the roll call, 610 out the total number of 704 students have returned. . We are still searching for the remaining 94 students”, he said.

The Nigeria military has arrested a Boko Haram commander and rescued 212 hostages in Borno state. Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, Director Army Public Relations, said four members of the terror group were killed after a serious exchange of gun fire with soldiers. "Troops of 3 Battalion, 22 Brigade Nigerian Army, Sector 1, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, in furtherance of the ongoing clearance operations in conjunction with 22 Mobile Strike Team and some Civilian JTF, on Tuesday, 28th November achieved a remarkable feat,” the statement reads.

Boko Haram kills village Imam, 16 others

The Police in Borno state have confirmed the killing of an Islamic cleric and 16 others by Boko Haram gunmen and bombers in separate incidents in two villages. DSP Isuku Victor, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said an Imam and three persons were killed when the insurgents stormed Kurumari village in Magumeri council area on Sunday. “On September 17, at about 22:30 hours, some suspects reasonably believed to be Boko Haram terrorists attacked Kurumari village, about 14 kilometres east of Magumeri town, in Magumeri local government area. “Four persons including the Imam of the village were reportedly killed during the attack.” Victor disclosed that 13 other persons were also killed in multiple suicide bomb attacks at Mashemeri village in Konduga local government area of the state.

Boko Haram: Troops Can’t Do Well In Rainy Season - Minister

The Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, on Thursday regretted that the nation’s troops fighting the Boko Haram sect cannot dominate the environment in rainy season like they were doing during dry season.

Notwithstanding the challenge, Dan-Ali said efforts were ongoing to stop the ambushes being experienced regularly.

Dismissed Air Force Officer Among Boko Haram Fighters In Clash With Police
