Tinubu's Death: Governor Ambode Cancels Epe Retreat To Mourn Him


Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has cancelled the 3-day strategic retreat for cabinet members and directors of ministries,holding in Epe, East of the state, The retreat which began on Thursday was scheduled to end Saturday evening. But the governor announced to the grieving participants today that the retreat could no longer go on following the shocking death of Deji Tinubu, his special adviser on commerce and industry. Deji Tinubu died Thursday night during a five-aside novelty match at the venue of the retreat in Epe.

LASG Bans Use of Bangers, Fireworks, Street Carnivals During Yuletide


Lagos state government has banned street carnivals and public processions during the Yuletide season. According to Commissioner of Police in the state, Fatai Owoseni, this is also to prevent any act of lawlessness or violence during the period. He also restated the ban on bangers and other fireworks during and after the Yuletide.

Ambode Cancels Contract of Falomo Shopping Centre


The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode yesterday, revoked the concession granted by the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation, LSDPC, to Afriland Properties for the redevelopment of the Falomo Shopping Centre, Ikoyi. He also issued stern warning to contractors handling various road projects in the state against shoddy jobs, saying the state would not accept any act that will cause untold.

Lagos Governor declares second Lekki-Epe Expressway toll-free

The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, has assured residents that tolls will not be collected at the second toll point on the Lekki- Epe Expressway. Ambode made the remark at an interactive session with journalists at the Banquet Hall of the Lagos House, Ikeja, a statement said on Sunday.

10 governorship candidates step down for Ambode in Lagos

Ahead of the upcoming April 11 gubernatorial election, 10 governorship candidates in Lagos State have pulled out of the race in support of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship flag bearer, Akinwunmi Ambode. This was contained in a press statement signed by the 10 governorship candidates. The candidates stated that they have put aside their aspiration to govern the state and have decided to jointly declare support for Ambode.

INEC Should Disqualify Ambode, He Is Mentally Sick- Greater Lagos Alliance


A group named the Greater Lagos Alliance has called for the disqualification of the Lagos State governorship candidate of the All Progressives' Congress, APC, Akinwunmi Ambode. The group, which claims to be non-partisan, predicated its call on the recent discovery that Ambode allegedly has a history of mental illness. This is contained in a statement signed by the group's president, Dr Lanre Adeoye, and made available to our correspondent.

Winner of the All Progressive Party Governorship ticket in Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has released his resume during his acceptance speech, Read below and be WOWED!
• I was born on the 14th of June,1963 at Epe General Hospital, Epe, Lagos State.
• I had my Primary School at St. Jude’s Primary School, Ebute Meta, and Lagos. Passed the National Common Entrance in Primary 5 and gained admission into Federal Government College, Warri.
 • Recorded the second best result in the entire West Africa in the Higher School Certificate Examinations in the Social Sciences in 1981.
 • Graduated with honours in Accounting from the University of Lagos at 21.
 • I started my public service career at Lagos State Waste Disposal Board (now LAWMA) as Accountant Grade II in November 1985.

BRIEF ACCEPTANCE STATEMENT SPEECH BY MR. AKIN AMBODE AFTER EMERGING VICTORIOUS AT THE LAGOS STATE GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARY IN LAGOS. DECEMBER 5, 2014
A RENEWED HOPE ''My fellow Lagosians, it is with a deep sense of gratitude and humility that I accept this ticket to run as the flag bearer of our great party, APC in the 2015 gubernatorial elections. This victory was made possible by you the people. And to my fellow contestants, I have nothing but commendation and respect for putting up a good fight.  
The success of this primary and the victory that has come out of it is not just for me but for all of us that stepped into the water. It is a victory for Lagosians and for democracy.
I thank all the delegates, over 6,000 of you who voted according to your conscience. For once, you did not wavered in your faith in the process put in place by our great party, APC. To the State party Executive and the National officers, I extend my appreciation for the long hours and the experience invested in this exercise. The orderliness, the transparency of the process and the spirit of sportsmanship devoid of bitterness that characterized this process signpost a better future for our democracy. Our party has demonstrated to all that we are a party of great minds and democratic ideals. The flag of the party that you have handed over to me I accept with a deep sense of history, knowing fully well that Lagos deserves nothing but the best in terms of good governance and dynamic development. Akin Ambode formally declares for Lagos governorship

Thousands of party members defied Friday’s hot, scorching sun to cheer Akinwunmi Ambode as he announced his intention to run for governor in Lagos in 2015.
Inside a capacity filled Onikan Stadium, in Lagos island, members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in colourful attires waved brooms and gyrated to loud music belching out from giant loudspeakers.
“The presence of thousands of supporters today is an attestation of the state-wide consultations that we commenced since last year,” said Mr. Ambode, 51, reading from a prepared speech.
“The acceptance and popularity of my candidacy, the great turnout and the fantastic support we have received from every corner of the State and beyond, from all sectors and various religious persuasions confirm that this is a divine moment in the history of Lagos State.
