Veteran Actor, Adebayo Faleti Laid To Rest

On Friday, all roads led to Agboye Village, Oyo state as late cultural icon, Adebayo Faleti, was buried. The interment was preceded by a funeral service held at the First Baptist Church, Oyo. Those present at the event included, Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, a retired Archbishop of the Methodist Church, Rt. Rev. Ayo Ladigbolu, Nollywood actors, government functionaries, youth groups and traditional leaders among others.

Popular Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie‎, has on Wednesday, picked up his nomination form to run for the Anambra governorship election on the platform of the Democratic Peoples’ Congress (DPC).

In a press conference after picking up his form, the son of legendary actor, Pete Edochie, who will run against incumbent governor Willie Obiano, among others on November 18, revealed his plans for the state, should he emerge the winner in the race.

He said: “I am joining the race to harness the creative potentials of the youths and the resource-endowment of Anambra to move the state to the next level of development, reduce poverty rate through wealth ‎and job creation, provide infrastructure and develop critical sectors in the state.

Discrimination, Poor Treatment of Upcoming Actors Needs to Change - Comic Actor, Saka Speaks Up

Nollywood actor and comedian, Afeez Oyetoro popularly known as Saka, has expressed displeasure over what he describes as poor treatment of upcoming actors. Speaking with 'Rubbin Minds' on Channels Television, the actor explained that there is discrimination between upcoming actors and old actors especially when it comes to payment. “There is discrimination between the young act and old act, I just believe in time, things will change. Maybe because of the resources available and then because of the organisation we have that is not strong enough to protect the interest of the actor to demand better pay, but things will change, we are working on it.”

More details have emerged about how a veteran Nigerian actor and South-west icon passed away in his Ibadan, Oyo State home.  

Celebrated actor and playwright, Adebayo Faleti, died on Sunday in his home in Ibadan at the age of 86 due to old age.

One of Faleti’s son, Adeniyi, told one of Punch correspondents that he was helping his father with his bath when he died.

According to him, his father observed the early morning devotion with his family members and soon after told them that he had prayed to God to send someone else to continue his mission as he was tired and longing for home.

 

He also said that he asked for hot pap, which he took before his death.

NOLLYWOOD VETERAN ACTOR, OLUMIDE BAKARE IS DEAD

Nollywood veteran actor, Olumide Bakare is dead, Tribune reports. According to the newspaper, the actor’s personal assistant confirmed his detan in the early hours of Saturday. Bakare, who has been sick for more than a year was discharged from the University College Hospital (UCH) last year after he was allegedly diagnosed with a respiratory disorder problem.
