South Africa Hit By Deadly Easter Church Collapse

At least 13 people have died and many were injured when a wall collapsed in South Africa at the start of an Easter service at a Pentecostal church. Emergency services said that 29 people were rushed to hospital after the collapse in the coastal province of KwaZulu-Natal.

South African lawmakers on Thursday selected Cyril Ramaphosa as the country’s new president after scandal-tainted Jacob Zuma resigned under pressure from his own ANC ruling party. Ramaphosa was chosen without a vote after being the only candidate nominated, chief justice Mogoeng Mogoeng told assembled lawmakers at a special sitting of the parliament in Cape Town. The announcement brought loud cheers from ANC lawmakers, with Ramaphosa due to address the parliament later during proceedings.

Jacob Zuma resigns as South Africa’s president

Jacob Zuma has resigned as president of South Africa with immediate effect, state television announced Wednesday night. Mr. Zuma, 75, has led South Africa since 2009. His resignation came a day after he was rejected by his party, the African National Congress, on corruption allegations and his connection to the Gupta family in South Africa. The party also gave Mr. Zuma until Wednesday night to resign or a vote of no confidence motion would be brought against him on Thursday to remove him from office.

Nigerian gymnasts abandon S’Africa tournament over funds

The Nigerian team have been  forced to cut short their participation at the  African All-Stars Gymnastics tournament in Pretoria in  South Africa  after running out of funds.

The Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria sent eight women  and four  men gymnasts to  the competition.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Tony Asuquo, who is  the coach of the team, told reporters in Abuja on  Wednesday that they decided to  return home from South Africa  on Tuesday because of money.

Pedestrian Bridge Collapses In South Africa

Tragedy was averted after a bridge collapsed in South Africa.

5 people were injured, with one of them severely wounded,. The accident reportedly happened in the early hours of Wednesday. An overhead pedestrian bridge is said to have collapsed onto passing cars along the N3 freeway in Germiston, Ekurhuleni. 

South African Actor Murdered During Carjacking Attack, Aunt Dies Upon Receiving The News

South African is mourning one of its talent, rising actor , Dumi Masilela who died yesterday after s shot by car hijackers on his way to visit a friend in Tembisa, Gauteng. 

Reports have it that the actor on Wednesday night  had parked his car when a black Jeep approached them. The actor and his friend tried to flee the scene but were chased by the occupants in the jeep who later opened fire.

South Africans Order Nigerians Out Of Communities

The Nigeria Union in South Africa on Wednesday accused two communities in the country of ordering Nigerians to quit their territories. President of the union, Ikechukwu Anyene, said the Kuruman community in Northern Cape Province gave Nigerians till Thursday to leave the place. Anyene also said the Klaafontein community, Extension 5, Johannesburg, has also directed landlords not to renew the rent of Nigerians in the area.

Recession hits South Africa for the second time

South Africa's economy has slipped back into recession for the second time in a decade. The news comes not long after two ratings agencies downgraded a portion of the country's sovereign debt to so-called junk status. Analysts had expected a better performance. They predicted a slight expansion of South Africa's economy. But in the event, it shrank by 0.7% in the first quarter of this year, following on from a fall at the end of last year.

Explosion hits South African’s Oil Refinery, injures 11 people

A blast on Monday at South Africa's Natref oil refinery injured 11 people and forced the 108,000 barrel per day facility owned by Sasol and Total to be evacuated, emergency services ER 24 said. Sasol confirmed on its website there had been an explosion at about 0545 GMT at the country's only inland refinery, which is a joint venture between the petrochemicals group and the South African subsidiary of Total.

The Nigeria Union in South Africa has said on Wednesday that two Nigerians have been shot dead in Western Cape Province of that country. Mr Mike Ibitoye, the Chairman of the Union`s chapter in the province said that the Nigerians were shot by unidentified assailants.

My mouth is still wide opened even as I write this...He held petrol in a bottle and said petrol can be as tasty as pineapple....

Suddenly church members were rushing towards him begging for a taste.When he gives them he asks"Is it nice"? They yell and nod in excitement,pleading for more...
