Apologise or I'll Sue You for Defamation - 2Baba Threatens Lawsuit Against Blackface

Following series of song theft allegations against him, singer 2baba Idibia has asked his former collaborator, Blackface to apologise or get sued. In a letter sent through his lawyers, Seun Omotoba & Co, multi-award winning Nigerian musician, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2face or 2Baba, has asked his former bandmate, Blackface to apologise after making series of song theft allegations against him, or get sued. According to the letter dated May 5, 2Baba said that Blackface has a week to apologise for all the defamatory remarks he has made about him or be ready to face legal actions.

Nollywood queen Genevieve Nnaji is smiling all the way to the bank with her latest endorsement deal with telecommunication company, Etisalat Nigeria.

The actress was unveiled as the company’s newest brand ambassador alongside actor Hakeem Kae-Kazim. Genevieve’s deal is alleged to be worth N100 Million and she will be the face of Etisalat’s brand new mobile package “Easy Flex”.This isn’t Genevieve’s first endorsement deal, although it’s her first major deal.

In the past she had been the face of cosmetics brand MUD Cosmetics & Coscharis Motors as the face of luxury SUV “Range Rover Evoque” in Nigeria. She was also recently endorsed by Amstel alongside Chelsea footballer, Mikel Obi.

Banky W

Also known as Mr. Capable, Banky W has proved to Nigerians that he is capable of being among the richest entertainers in the industry.

He makes the bulk of his wealth from gigs. He is said to charge between N2.5m and N3m per show and performs three to four times in a week.

He is a brand ambassador of Etisalat, one of Nigeria’s telecommunications giants, where he featured in their popular commercial, 0809ja for life. He also featured in Coca Cola-Nigeria’s World Cup theme song and Microsoft’s Anti-cyber Crime Initiative. He is also hooked up with Samsung Mobile.

D’banj

Former Mo’Hits artiste, Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’Banj, signed a new endorsement deal with Globacom Nigeria.

This is D’Banj’s second endorsement deal with the telecommunications company; the first ended in 2010 with the artiste’s refusal to extend his 2008 two-year contract.

Although the exact amount agreed on was not made public, there is speculation that it is a jaw dropping sum and that it is most likely the priciest endorsement signing in 2013. The singer who has a penchant for making money, has a deal running into millions with Chris Aire, as the face of his watches and another one with UAC Foods.

He collects between N5m and N7m as performance fee for local gigs. His first deal with Glo was said to have worth more than N70m while speculations are rife that his current deal with the telecom giant is in the region of N120m.

P-Square

The singing and dancing duo, Peter and Paul Okoye, are unarguably among the richest in the industry. They won the KORA award for Best Africa Artiste 2010. The award came with $1m (N150m). Shortly after, the duo got an endorsement deal with Globacom telecommunications worth about N240m for four years. Their American tour of seven cities earned them a whopping $1m (N150m). Their new deal is worth much more.

Iyanya

Since his highly successful 2012 monster hit single ‘Kukere’, it has been one hit after another, one award after another and one endorsement contract after another for the once impoverished singer.

The pop singer recently closed a deal reportedly worth N35 million with mobile phone manufacturing company, SOLO Mobile. According to his publicist, Wildflower PR, the deal was iced with a brand new 2014 Prado SUV.

Earlier in May 2013, the 27 year-old singer was lucky enough to have been included in MTN’s swoop of some of the major players in the music industry, becoming one of the company’s highest paid brand ambassadors in a N40 million deal.

Zinox Technologies Limited, manufacturer of Nigeria’s first internationally certified branded computers was looking for a face to represent its brand, guess who quickly came to mind? None other than the rave of the moment, Iyanya. The Leo Stan-Ekeh owned tech-company put pen to paper, inked a deal and made Iyanya N56milion richer.

Others who have put pens to paper include Rita Dominic who was snapped up a couple of weeks ago by Keystone Bank Plc; Tiwa Savage has a mouth-watering deal with Forte Oil and Gas, MTN, Pepsi, among others; Wizkid, Hafiz Oyetoro, Mike Ezuruonye, Stephanie Okereke and a host of others are enjoying a new lease of life as brand ambassadors with millions of naira to the good.

2Face Idibia Set to Make return to Acting! (Nollywood)

 

Nigerian music Legend, 2Face Idibia is featuring in another Nollywood movie alongside fellow singer, Omawumi Megbele.

The 'African Queen' crooner is in a new dance movie titled 'Make a Move', which also stars Ivie Okujaiye, Majid Michel and Bervely Naya.

The trailer for a new film, which was directed by Niyi Akinmolayan has already been released.

'Make a Move' takes one to an exciting world of dance filled with unique and artistic characters, which also include Eno Ekpenyong, Denrele Edun, Tina Mba and Wale Adebayo. 

The movie is expected to be released before the end of this year.

2face Idibia gets shot dead in his most emotional music video yet

Probably the most emotional video yet from the king of Nigerian Pop – 2face Idibia 2face Idibia has premiered the video of his duet with T-Pain – the remix of ‘Rainbow’ and what we can tell you is that it’s not your average video.
The visuals tell a sad love story of the Pop star and a lover who can’t be with each other anymore. The director of the video US based Bla G cleverly leads viewers astray only to hit us right in the face towards the end of the video. In the early part of the 4-minute plus video, 2face and his lover are seen in a scene not looking and talking to each other. When 2face tries to reach out to her, she ignores him. One would think it’s a love-gone-sour scenario fleshed with flashbacks of good times they shared in the past.

It’s not until the 2:41 mark we get what’s going on: 2face hurriedly drags his ‘wife’ into a room and tells her to stay put. He then leaves and all we hear are 3 gunshots (three, so that rules out suicide yea?). 2face is believed to have died. The director however leaves it open for the viewers to make up their own story…

So going back to the early part of the video, it all makes sense: 2face is a ghost in the house who lingers around as he still misses his lover.

The director also plays on our emotions – the ‘lover’ in the video strikes a resemblance with Annie Idibia, 2face’s wife.

2face Idibia signs baba (Victor Uwaifo) to HyperTek Digital

 
2face Idibia has announced the signing of prolific and veteran Nigerian musician Sir Victor Uwaifo to his new record label HyperTek Digital. The announcement was made on November 30, 2013 at Club Rumours, Ikeja, Lagos. The details of the deal have not been disclosed but we know Uwaifo will be releasing new music under the label. ‘To belong to the artistes in HyperTek is my joy. I have the propensity to change. If you say it’s Jazz, I’ll play Jazz. If you say it’s Hip-Hop, I’ll play it‘, Uwaifo said at the unveiling. ‘My manager and I Efe Omorogbe, we’ve been talking about it for quite some time and we just decided to go for it. Sir Victor Uwaifo was really forthcoming and he was down with the idea and here we are today‘, 2face explains the reasons for the signing.

Uwaifo joins Pop artiste Dammy Krane and dancehall act Rocksteady as the fourth official artiste under the label. No other artistes have been announced for now. The deal comes shortly after HyperTek rebranded and sold some shares to a parent company 960Music, founded by former Spinlet boss Eric Idahi. Uwaifo is a Nigerian musician, writer, sculptor, and musical instrument inventor, born in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria in 1941. His best-known song, is ‘Guitar Boy. a huge hit in 1966. 2Face Idibia is top Nigerian musician who has gained respect for himself in the industry. Ironically, his private life, especially in the love and child bearing aspect, may not have made some to respect him.

He was once being used by comedians to liken those alleged being impregnating ladies at the slighted 'touch'. At a time, some comedian joked whether he sends pregnancy to ladies through bluetooth. Well, that's not a discussion for today.

When he married Annie Macaulay in 2013, many critics said he won't be faithful to his wife. But 2Face may be proven many wrong now.
