Photos: Mammoth Crowd attends Maitama Sule's burial in Kano

Mammoth crowd made up of sympathisers, Muslim faithfuls, including the chief of staff to the president, Malam Abba Kyari, on Tuesday, July 4 attended the funeral prayer for the late Dr Maitama Sule, the Dan masanin Kano in Kano State. The Chief Imam of Kano, Professor Sani Zaharaddeen, conducted the prayer at 6:08pm, with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and his deputy, Professor Hafiz Abubakar and the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II in attendance. Maitama Sule: Buhari reportedly writes Kano Governor

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a personal letter of condolence to the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, in which he expressed profound shock over the death of elder statesman, Alhaji (Dr) Yusuf Maitama Sule.

The letter, personally signed by the President, also described the death of Alhaji Sule as a "heavy loss."

It will be delivered by the federal government delegation to the burial as constituted by the Acting President.
