Army dreams to make Sambisa Forest tourists haven

Nigeria’s army is planning a makeover for the Sambisa Forest, from being the den of Boko Haram terrorists into a tourist destination. Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, announced the plan on Wednesday.

Nigerian Army begins road construction in Sambisa forest

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday said it had embarked on road construction project in Sambisa Forest as part of ongoing clearance operation to dislodge remnants of Boko Haram insurgents. The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Sani Kukasheka, made the disclosure in a statement issued in Maiduguri. Kukasheka said that the army had begun construction of access road to open the forest and link adjourning communities.

Army rescues 1880 Women & Children from Sambisa Forest

The Nigerian Army has rescued 1,880 women and children from Boko Haram insurgents in the Sambisa Forest. Maj. Gen. Lucky Irabor, the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, said in Maiduguri on Wednesday that troops also arrested about 504 Boko Haram terrorists while 19 of them willingly surrendered. He said that the Army had arrested about 37 foreigners who were currently undergoing interrogations to ascertain whether they were terrorists or not.
