Going by the reports, 2 Nigerians, a 27-year-old indigene of Abia State and a 22-year-old indigene of Edo State, have tested postive to the Ebola Virus. Both of them reside in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
The minister of state for health, Dr Khaliru Alhassan, disclosed this at the just-concluded National Council on Health Meeting, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom. He said details of the two cases will be made available when full investigation of their status is concluded. In his words,
"According to information made available to the ministry from health officials in Sierra Leone, one of them has been successfully treated and is technically cured, and has returned to Nigeria while the other one, has been placed in an isolation centre in Freetown."
Dr Alhassan said although the nation’s borders will continue to remain open for free movement of people and goods within the region, government will continue to strengthen and sustain proactive vigilance and surveillance at all its borders.
