Email Inventor Ray Tomlinson Dies At 74



Email inventor, Ray Tomlinson is dead. The US computer programmer who came up with the idea of electronic messages in 1971 died of an apparent heart attack over the weekend.

His invention included the ground-breaking use of the @ symbol in email addresses, which is now standard. He was the first person to send an email while working in Boston as an engineer for research company Bolt, Beranek and Newman.
