Ekiti Election Has Too Many Fraud - US observer group, others


A coalition of domestic and international election observers accredited to observe the July 14 governorship poll in Ekiti State said the election fell short of expectations as it witnessed so many acts that compromised the results. Recall that INEC declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Kayode Fayemi, as the winner of the election. The observers, who comprised representatives from over 50 domestic organisations, human rights groups and international election observer bodies, based their report on lapses noticed in the conduct of the election, especially the role of security agencies.

Ekiti Election: INEC Dares PDP To Go To Court


Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in last Saturday’s election yesterday got a reply to his threat to challenge the result in court. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the supervisor of the poll, told Prof. Kolapo Olusola-Eleka to head for the election tribunal. APC candidate Kayode Fayemi won the election, which was Marred by vote buying and alleged changing of results at collation centers. Also yesterday, Ekit State Governor Ayodele Fayose faulted the outcome of the poll.

The candidate of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), Kayode Fayemi, has been officially declared the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election. The chief returning officer of the election, Idowu Olayinka, a professor and vice chancellor of the University of Ibadan, announced the final results in the early hours of Sunday.

Ekiti election: Stay away from polling units if you have no PVC –INEC (Punch)
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ekiti State, Prof. Abdulganiy Raji, has warned those who have no Permanent Voter Cards to stay away from polling units during the conduct of the state governorship election on Saturday. According to him, Independent National Electoral Commission gave enough time for registered voters to collect their PVCs and lodge complaints before the process ended on Wednesday.

Herdsman Heads to Jail in Ekiti after Destroying Properties


An Ekiti State High Court has sentenced a herdsman, Ali Haruna, to two years imprisonment for destroying crops worth N1.5 million in the farm. The state Chief Judge, Justice Ayodeji Daramola, held that the prosecution had proved the case against the accused beyond reasonable doubt setting aside the appeal filed against the judgment of the Chief Magistrate’s Court. Haruna had earlier been sentenced to two years jail by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court presided over by Mr Idowu Ayenimo on a two-count charge of malicious damage preferred against him.

Court throws out murder case involving Ayo Fayose



Murder cases involving Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose relisted and quietly thrown out by a High Court judge in Ekiti on Wednesday. The murder case came up before Justice Ogunyemi of Ekiti High Court in Ado-Ekiti. The case had Ekiti State Government represented by Kunle Adetowubo, Mrs. T.O ogunwole as representative of accused persons.

Ekiti University Students Protest Hike in Fees


Students of Ekiti State University are embarking on a peaceful protest against late registration charges of N10, 000. The students were first charged N5, 000 for late registration and they took it calm. Hell was, however, let loose when the late registration fee was increased to N10, 000 from the initial N5, 000.

According to Sahara Reporters 7 members of Ekiti State House of Assembly backed by well-armed policemen today impeached the speaker of the state house of Assembly, Adewale Omirin.
The seven persons were shepherded into the state assembly complex by Mobile Police Commander, Selenkere Michael, to carry out the act.

Ekiti State has a unique governor, like it or hate it. Ayo Fayose has said he patronizes drinking joints every Friday in order to get close to the ‘common man’ in the state. Governor Fayose said this in Abuja on Thursday while defending the concept of 'stomach infrastructure' that was introduced by his government. He told journalists that it would be wrong to assume that stomach infrastructure meant only sharing of food and money to the people.

Governor Fayose Appoints SA For ‘Stomach Infrastructure’, Others


The new Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has appointed, the secretary to the state government, some special assistants, including one for ‘Stomach Infrastructure’ According to a press statement issued in Ado Ekiti today by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the appointments take immediate effect. The appointed officers are: Dr Mrs. Modupe Alade as Secretary to the state Government, Owoseni Ajayi as Special Assistant on Legal Matters, Mr. Kayode Oso as Special Assistant on Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Sola Owoeye as Special Assistan on Protocol.
